Letter to the Rectors: Announcement of taking over the agenda of the Accreditation Commission

A letter was sent to the rectors of the higher education institutions of the Slovak Republic with the following announcement:

Subject: Announcement of the takeover of the agenda of the Accreditation Commission, an advisory body of the Government of the Slovak Republic by the Slovak Accreditation Agency for Higher Education and the procedure for verifying the results of higher education measures taken to eliminate shortcomings according to regulations effective until 31 October 2018.

I would like to inform you that from 1 January 2020, according to the transitional provisions of § 38 par. 4 of Act no. 269/2018 Coll. on Quality Assurance in Higher Education and on Amendments to Act No. 343/2015 Coll. on Public Procurement and on Amendments to Certain Acts as Amended (hereinafter referred to as the “Act”), all rights and obligations binding on the Accreditation Commission, an advisory body of the Government of the Slovak Republic (hereinafter referred to as the “Accreditation Commission”) shall be transferred to the Slovak Accreditation Commission as of 31 December 2019. the Agency for Higher Education (hereinafter referred to as the “Agency”), including the registration records of the Accreditation Commission, the administration of its registry, the ownership and administration of the website of the Agenda Information System of the Accreditation Commission. At the same time according to § 37 par. 5 of the Act, proceedings on the ability of a university to carry out a study programme authorizing its graduates to award an appropriate academic degree and proceedings on the ability of a university to carry out a habilitation procedure and a procedure for appointing professors were suspended until 31 January 2020.
