The Slovak Accreditation Agency for Higher Education (SAAHE) sees positive developments in Slovak higher education institutions (HEIs). Thanks to investments and modern quality assurance in education, they have made significant progress. High school graduates can apply to Slovak HEIs without hesitation.
HEIs today are different from what they were 10-20 years ago. Several of them have invested in facilities, laboratories, and dormitories, for example in Žilina, Trnava, Nitra, Bystrica, Prešov, but also in Bratislava and Košice. They used EU funds, the state budget, and their own resources for this purpose. The Ľ. Štúr student dormitory in Mlynská dolina is also undergoing major renovations.
“Although some problems persist, the quality and innovativeness of teaching are gradually improving. This is the result of their long-term work and accreditation processes in accordance with the standards of the European Association for Quality Assurance in Higher Education (ENQA). The internal processes of schools, which are aimed at raising the level in line with international standards, are particularly important. I am pleased that students can study at high-quality schools in Slovakia,” said the chairman of the Executive Board of SAAHE, Professor Robert Redhammer.
Slovakia’s participation in ENQA and compliance with standards ensures that our HEIs can compete abroad, including in the Czech Republic, where many Slovaks still study. Higher investments in modernization strengthen their competitive position in Europe. It is important to continue this trend and support the return of talent from abroad.
