The Chairman of Slovak Accreditation Agency for Higher Education together with the Minister of Education has presented the Proposal of Accreditation Standards

On 2 June 2020, the 7th meeting of the Committee of the National Council of the Slovak Republic for Education, Science, Youth and Sport of the Slovak Republic was held under the chairmanship of the Committee Chairman Mr. Richard Vašečka. The meeting was also attended by the Minister of Education, Mr. Branislav Gröhling, who together with the chairman of the Agency prof. Robert Redhammer has presented the Proposal of Accreditation Standards to the members of the National Council.

Among the guests were also leaders of higher education institutions representations – Student Councils of Higher Education Institutions, the Council of Higher Education Institutions, and the Slovak Rector’s Conference, which significantly contributed to the constructive and dynamic discussion. During the meeting, many suggestions were made on how to effectively contribute to the improvement of higher education, primarily related to the finalization of accreditation standards. During the meeting, the Minister of Education emphasized on several occasions the need to respect the independence of the Agency and expressed confidence in its work. At the same time, the chairman of the Agency assured those present that he was open to discussions with experts on the future of the quality of higher education institutions. In addition to the legislative and financial instruments of the Ministry, the pressure on the quality of education by the Agency must also be taken into account. He also said, “Universities need to know the rules of the game as soon as possible, so the Agency wants to finish the Proposal of Accreditation Standards shortly“.
